I understand sacrificial strips are made from another strip of sail cloth or a different cloth that has UV resistance. The sail cloth may last 5 seasons the UV strip may last longer. The first supplier I contacted can supply UV strip in white, blue & bright red but can only supply tan in standard sail cloth. Boat is 28 foot/5 ton gaff cutter with sail size & sail cloth weight to match. Just wondering if anyone can suggest a UK supplier of tan coloured UV strip for small boat?

Thanks

Mike

My tan sacrificial strips were fitted by http://www.jameslawrencesailmakers.com and the material they use lasts really well. They are excellent sail makers for gaffers. Not sure if they will just supply you with the material but certainly worth asking.

Your profile doesn't say where you are. I'd just pop into Contender Sailcloth in Fareham for some WeatherMax.

http://www.contender.co.uk/Products/WeatherMax.aspx

They do a colour called 'Toast' in the WeatherMax LT which is the lighter weight of the standard WeatherMax fabric.

Your sailmaker should be able to use this.

I've not had time to read up today but I'm sure it's also available with a self adhesive backing.. Worth a call to Contender.
