Does anyone have any experience of a Tamar 2000 Enterprise displacement cruiser, fitted with a 1.8 litre BMC Thornycroft diesel engine?

Is this a good coastal sea boat? Good and bad points of these boats? What would be the expected fuel consumption cruising at 7 knots?

Any other information / experiences would be most appreciated.

Many thanks,

Allan

Sorry, I've no experience of them and there may not be anyone on here that has one. That's more likely to be due to there being not all that many built, rather than because of any real faults.

I've always liked the look of their traditional lines when I've seen them down in the SW.

I wonder if MBM or PBO have done a quick test on them?

I had a look at one for sale a while ago, and would have bought it for Thames use!

Looks to be a most well made traditional vessel with a surprising amount of cabin space due to the single compact engine on a shaft, although a strangely shaped floor for the same reason!

Looks like the sort of boat you could keep for years without too much expense.

The front cabin was high sided, cosy but the windows were high, as I remember...

Can't talk about seaworthyness, but looked the part.

Power will be 'adequate' IMHO
