Coming back across Felixstowe harbour yesterday (Sat) and we had to slow down to displacement speed as there were a lot of boats around. We were following a smallish speed boaty/small sports cruiser type thing with an inboard engine. Three or four guys onboard when one of them climbs over the transom onto the bathing platform. Myself and SWMBO are both wondering what he's doing, as the boat is under way, when he unzips and begins peeing off the back of the boat. Now, neither of us are too prudish, but with all the boats around, this seems a tad bad manners, to say the least.

Mid flow, his mate at the helm gives the throttle a blip and he goes face first over the back and into the harbour hehehe. Couldn't decide whether to go back and tell him "serves you right" or just turn around and stand off to make sure he gets recovered safely (of course, he isn't wearing a life jacket, just his trusty baseball cap). Decided on the latter and had a good laugh at his expense. :D

How very Continental!

I believe there is a RNLI statistic that most male bodies found in the water have their flies open.

Personally when singlehanded I have a small bucket I keep in the cockpit for such requirements - so if you see facing forward, huddled under the spray hood then you have a good idea what I am doing! Much more discreet :D

The USCG call it FIFO - Fell In Flies Open.

I like to think i'm fairly laid back about these things (excuse the pun!) but it's a bit unnecessary. Very 'British Bulldog / Boyz on holiday' kind of stuff.

However, the lobbing him off the back of the boat did make me laugh. OK not so funny if the RNLI boys had to come and get him but did seem a bit 'instant karma'
