I am aware of the restrictions and requirements of the Pet Passport scheme relating to France, and am trying to confirm a statement on the States of Jersey website stating that a pet passport is not required for direct travel between the UK and CI.

Can anyone just confirm this as we plan a summer cruise in company in August. I seem to recall that when this subject was raised sometime ago, that there was an issue of landing the pet in the Marina?

Any info gladly received.

TIA

Have taken our dogs to Guernsey many times + Jersey this summer. The only restriction is that you will not be allowed into any of the marinas which means waiting pontoons are your only option, apart from anchoring.

Cannot understand this situation - is the marina not part of the CI? and seems to me at this stage a waste of time. What are the practicalities? as we always stay marina bound whenever possible. Are there waiting pontoons with water taxi services or is a dinghy situation?
Loads of questions I know - sorry, but trying to understand why there are no restrictions regarding landing in the CI , yet there are.
TIA

Yes there are waiting pontoons and water taxi's, but we always used the dinghy anyway.

Think it's just a case of, they dont want dogs peeing on the pontoons.

Go on, live a little, manage without a marina for once, pretend yer going to get a scouts badge!

In St Helier the waiting pontoon has leccy and water and is connected to shore. St PP waiting pontoons are not connected to shore (but only 50 yards away) and only have water so dinghy or water taxi needed.

But we were told that Beaucette marina does now allow dogs, maybe best to check again before going.

Yes, I've emailed many of the marinas we plan to visit and awaiting a response.

The Yachtsmans Guide to Guernsey is the usual Legalese Gobldigook.

There are no restrictions on dogs or cats arriving in the bailiwick of Guernsey ( Includes Herm, Sark and Alderney).

However boats with dogs on are not allowed in the marinas in Guernsey or to moor alongside a wall, so use the pontoons in the pool in St Peter Port or anchor in a bay. Beaucette allow no dogs either.

If your dog has just been to France (this voyage) ot may not enter Guernsey by private boat only a ferry licensed to carry dogs ie Condor. I belive you cant return to England on a private boat with dogs or cats either?

Call Guernsey Marinas on 01481 725 987 to confirm.

As far as im aware Beaucette marina does allow dogs, a good friend took his this year, but I can confirm no dogs in any Guernsey St peterport marina, seems strange to me is it the states dont want dogs on the Island or just in marinas? as the hired a car and toured the whole of the Island.

I have no personal experience of Beaucette taking dogs on visiting boats from the UK but their website says no.

There are local resident dogs there.

Give them a ring on 01481 245000 probably Mon to Fri this time of the year.

...and I believe you will find this applies even if you have anchored. In other words, if you anchor, you cannot take your dog ashore.

The same restrictions apply in Guernsey. See

http://www.guernseyharbours.gov.gg/yachtFlipBook/index.html

and read page 21.

Read what it says on page 21 and accept what people with dogs, who have been to the CI's many times have said.

A UK DOG CAN GO TO THE CI'S AND LAND, BUT NOT FROM A MARINA.

A FOREIGN DOG CANNOT LAND.

My Collie has been to St Peters Port a few times, but we had to stay on the waiting pontoon and row ashore.

When we went to ST Helier they asked us to stay outside the marina on the waiting pontoon as we had a dog. Not a problem as i prefer the waiting pontoon anyway and it has walk ashore access.

When we were storm bound in Braye the dog was even allowed on the plane to Guernsey. She got a seat to herself next to mine, but her ticket was cheaper.

She has also stayed a night with us at a dog friendly B&B 2 mins walk from the the marina

From St Peters Port there is plenty of walking areas to the South
We avoided Beaucette as when i phoned them they told me the dog could be on board down below but was not allowed on the pontoon at all.

Reply from CI Marina's

Just heard back from them all.

Beaucette will allow dogs in the marina but ST PP will not. But waiting pontoon with water taxi/ dinghy for land access.
Jersey will not but again it's a waiting pontoon situation.

Think we have it all now - thanks all for input.
