Do you think it would be possible to get TT wireless wind kit to talk to and control AP.
If so how could I set about wiring it.
The TT was bought before Raymarine take over, its about 7 years old as is autopilot.
It would be nice to get boat to steer to the wind as well as waypoints.
Just an idea.

We have the later wireless wind unit and had to add the nmea interface and then convert to seatalk to get the wind data to our AP, nmea data would not go direct.

The answer is yes, I had that set-up until I upgraded the system, you need a Tack-Tick NMEA interface to convert the wireless signal into an NMEA string. then feed the NMEA into the autopilot.

I think the current model is; T121 Hull Transmitter, but I'd check that it is compatible with the older Tack-Tick system. You may be able to pick one up secondhand, on the for sale forum, ebay or gumtree.

One word of caution, there is a significant delay between the wind vane and the autopilot when using this system, this probably doesn't matter if your boat has a long keel and turns slowly, but for my Southerly, with what is effectively a centre board, and can turn "on a sixpence" ,it was far too slow, especially when broad reaching in a quartering sea. I replaced the wind vane with a wired one and there was a dramatic improvement in the response time of the system.

If you had a newer STNG capable pilot then I would suggest this from Raymarine...

it was built to overcome the delays highlighted in post 3. Unfortunately not available when I installed mt Raymarine Evolution pilot so I have it integrated with a Tacktick Micronet-NMEA converter then a NMEA-STNG converter. It works but is a but could be improved with the above which I intent to fit in due-course.

I also wish this had been available as it saves converting from NMEA to 2k to get wind and depth etc, looks like a further upgrade coming along again

I've just got the new Micro-talk gateway to integrate my Tacktick kit with my new Evo Autopilot, and I'm taking the opportunity to install an STNG/NMEA2000 backbone. The new gateway is cheaper than the old T122 Wireless Transmitter... (about £20)… Unfortunately I've offered the T122 to a friend with Tacktick kit...
