Anyone have experience of fitting & operation of Tack Tic Wind, good or bad.I am considering this as a replacement for my Standard Horizon which is faulty(cannot find any spares info re SH instruments)
We've been using them for 3 years and they have been great. Easy to install with no wires up the mast.
We found a software problem with the depth instrument (couldnt turn off the shallow alarm - which was frustrating going across the north sea - everytime we got turbulance under the boat the depth went to zero and off the alarm went). Tacktic replaced the units no problem - great service.
I have seen some bad comments about battery life on the "Sailing Anarchy" forum but that seemed to be criticising tech support in the US.
Ours is wired up to a Raymarine plotter/auto pilot with no problems. I would buy them again give a choice rather than the hardwired Raymarine ST60s.
Tacktick Wind is really easy to install and use. Pretty much bolt everything on and thats it. Test the unit before you fit it up the mast just in case!
