Tachometer for a Bukh DV8

Since the alternator is inaccessible with the Bukh DV8 (being a strange set-up behind the flywheel) I'm thinking about the Tiny Tach diesel version. (http://www.tinytachuk.com/diesel.php) which seems to have had favourable reviews here and elsewhere. Does anybody have a better suggestion?

Do you need a permanently plumbed-in tachometer or would one of these meet your needs?

I put a tinytach onto a yanmar 1gm; pretty easy and cheap. Don't have any other suggestions I'm afraid

I've seen those laser things, thank you for the suggestion. Also the iPhone etc. apps which promise to analyse the sound of the engine. I'm really after a permanent readout.

I put a Tinytach on my Bukh 24. Works great.

I have a tiny tach on my petter av. Works a treat. You just need to measure the diameter of the injection pipe to get the right sensor
