Have just had the tachometer on my Volvo MD 2020 replaced under a sympathetic claim. It is reading about a third of the revs it should be. ie showing tickover at 250 rpm where it should show about 750rpm.

Is it easy to calibrate, or are is it not possible at all?

They are all different but I think if you turn it over you will find either a screw calibration thingy or more likely a button to depress if its a digital one. If its not obvious try a phone call to your local Volvo agent. They will tell you for sure.

On the back to the right of the multiplug is a small hole, if you insert something like a cocktail stick you will feel a small button that you can depress, if you do this and hold it in while turning the ignition on, the engine hours window will display 'code'. Your engine is code 5 this changes with each push on the button, and it goes up to 25 if you go past it and have to start again, when you have code 5 in the window release the button and after about 10 secs the display will return to engine hours. If you push it and it shows 'Adjust' dont alter it from 0.0 as this is for fine tuning.
