tacho problem

hi tacho is showing 750 rpm with no engine running any ideas

sorry did not run the engine as was working on the other engine after rebuild

When i switch my engine off the tacho remains at the revs before it stopped. I think this is normal. The next time i turn the key switch (ignition switch) to the first position the tacho needle moves to zero.

Same here , if I turn engine off at idle it stays about 750 rpm on the dial.

Mine are volvo tacho's and they drop to zero when the engine is switched off.

My Volvo tacho's stay at last reading when turned of but zero as soon as switched back on
