T Valves and L Valves

Without taking the valve out of the line, is it possible to tell an L from a T type? I am thinking of the Valves used in the fuel system.

On the 3 way valves I have if you remove the handle there is an indication on the end of the square shaft as to the type and orientation of the valve inside

This is the valves I have and you need to remove the handle to see the markings
