Yup, although I do encourage them to not spend all their time glued to the TV as well!... hence for example the davits, so that we can launch the tender quickly.... last year they had HUGE pleasure from taking the tender up a little creek off the Deben and creeping up on a seal that sat and watched them while it sunned itself.... and the davits will encourage me to get them afloat more often.... we are also looking at getting a small wooden tender with a sailing rig so that they can go and enjoy themselves that way too....

Not that I see any need for justification but we do live on board.
I can see why people who don't would want one.
At the end of the day it's personal choice like everything else in life and no right or wrong.
