Stating the obvious I know, but you're not a victim of the digital switchover are you?

If not I bought a portable Sat dish with receiver from Maplins a few years ago, everything was in the box for about £70. Once I got the knack of setting it up it worked really well. Got rid of it now as the new boat has a good anteena that gets all we need.

I do take MBM, but would have to look for the copy you're after. However my thoughts are that this would not work, reason being that a rock steady dish is needed for a signal, cannot think this can easily be done set up on a boat, have seen dishes on pontoons but as these also are never very stable, but doubt these would work OK either.

I have set up several dishes on houses, and so do know what an absolute devil of a job it can be to aim the dish at the correct satellite. Once found the dish needs to be rigidly clamped in that position.

i have a "vu qube" portable satellite system and its worked superbly well from as far north as newcastle and as far south as brittany.
it hardly ever loses the satellite signal whilst in a marina.

it will not work at anchor because i dont have the self tracking model.

it is easy to set up and i am well chuffed with it...

That's what I thought, until i saw one or two boats in our marina with satellite dishes, so I bought...

Can't help on the article, but I do remember seeing the travel dish kit in B&Q.

...one of these - B. & Q. £90 portable sat system - except it was on offer at £50 at the time.

Once you've aligned the dish () and secured it in position you get a perfect picture and a million and one channels, including the 'main' ones. It very rarely loses the signal, even when the boat's blowing in her mooring.
