I'm thinking of fitting some synthetic teak, false teak decking or should I say faux teak...This if for the cockpit area only and will serve the purpose of covering the tarnished paintwork, be aesthetically pleasing and comfortable to sit on if I do a good job! Is there a lot variation in quality between suppliers? My impression of the main suppliers like flexiteak and is they only want to do installation. I would consider this for the whole deck if that was the case. I'm thinking of trying a small area first, perhaps one aft locker.

I did mine about 5 years ago with isitteak which I think was flexiteaks diy version. (Bought from deacons yard swan wick) Most of my cockpit is locker lids so could take home and do over winter. I was really pleased with the results and looks as good today as when I did it.

Be aware it can get very hot in the sun or at least my Estech decks do. Hot enough even in the UK to make it uncomfortable to sit on. For the hotter climates I was told by the boat builder people tend to use a light coloured decking with grey or white lines.

Alternatively like me I just use some cushions. Will say it is now 7 years old and is looking like new.
