Hi,

I need advice: Ever since we had the boat we ran normal 2 stroke oil and later started using outboard 2 stroke.

Should I stick with normal Outboard 2 stroke oil or would it be OK (or better) to start using fully synthetic 2 stroke oil on a outboard this old?

‘normal’ outboard oil I mean
As long as it has ‘tcw3’ on the bottle it will be fine
Any brand
‘Ordinary’ 2 stroke will do as you have found
It’s the ratio/ mixture that’s most important

Hi. Generally synthetic 2 stroke is usually not tcw3. Not always, but mostly. It’s used for di injection engines. You’ll want to stick to the normal tcw3 oil for that engine. As long as it’s tcw3 you’re good.

i would not use any thing other than tcw 3 . its easy to save a few pence on oil and then be upset because you have knackered a good engine!
old style engines were designed for old style oils.
