Mr Stainless did a load of stainless repair work on Rose of Wight - new pulpit, pushpit, bathing ladder etc - his work is very good.

He's highly regarded & has an 'eye' for marine work. He's done ally work for me as well. Take a look at Rose when you're next down - I'm still in the water berth W23.

Saying all that he's in demand & therefore not the cheapest.

I've had a small s/s fitting welded up by Fox's a few years ago and that was OK too but I don't know what current pricing is there.

I had a simple crane made last winter by Mr Stainless to attach to the goalpost on Santana's stern. The idea was to be able to lift the (4hp) outboard up to the transom. The job was done through the yard I lay up at, so they will have had a cut. None-the-less I thought it pretty expensive at £515 vat inc (for non high polish finish), particularly as it bent on first use and had to be reworked. Once fixed, it has been fine and it looks to be well finished etc.

It was precisely as quoted, so I can only blame myself for the price I suppose, but the choice locally is limited.

I have a also heard good things about Fox's stainless dept., but that they are expensive. Their work that I've seen is excellent though.
 
Our pulpit's a bit bent out of shape.
I don't think it's major work - I just want it straightened.
So I prefer to have it done locally.

The idea is: take it off - carry it to the shop - have it straightened - put it back on.
I may be quite naive, but I don't see why it can't be done in a day.
 
Mr Stainless did some work for me in 2004. He modified a stainless hand rail to take an instrument pod, excellent work imaginatively completed. Pity R&J didn't follow the instructions and nearly ruined his work.
