My recent survey says that I should renew the swivel in my anchor chain. Never knew I had one!

Certainly not at the anchor end. Is it positioned between the chain and the nylon warp?

There isn't normally a swivel between chain and warp.

If you're certain that there isn't one at the anchor end (not meaning to teach egg-sucking, but you know what you're looking for, right?) then perhaps it's a mistake in the survey. Mine certainly looked to be made of stock sentences pasted together as applicable to the boat, with the odd bit of specific text added. Perhaps the surveyor picked up the wrong sentence by mistake?

Check carefully that you dont have a swivel type of anchor connector.

If you dont then your survey is rubbish and you cant trust a single solitary word of it.

Ask for your money back!

:):)

I would strongly suggest that the Manufactrers specifications for breakng strain is determind before itting any of these swivel devices, some have quite a low specified breaking strain, some are sold as tested

My chain is attached to the anchor with a 3/8th galvanised shackle directly to the chain - nothing else. Worked for 10 years without problem, so dont fix whot aint broke
