My husband and I (who are not yet v. experienced cruiser sailors) like the look of a pre-owned Beneteau 331 with the swing keel option but are a bit nervous of this type of keel but are attracted by the shallow draft.
Does anyone out there have some first hand experience with the boat generally and in particular the swing keel to help us make a better judgement please?
Thx for all your help
Jenny

Got a 331 with fin keel. Thoroughly pleased with the boat so far, particularly with the way she coped with a boisterous passage back from the recent "Scuttlebut" meet in Cherbourg. I think I read somewhere that the swing keeler didn't meet "RCD Cat A" as the minimum stability requirement had to be met with keel up (just in case the skipper forgets), but the addition of lead to the keel winglets, by an agent of the manufacturer, solved the problem.

Pm me if you want any info on the 331.
