Hi All

I'm a new member, and as you can see from my log in name own an ARC Marine "Everyman" built in Littlehampton in the early 1950's; a long forgotten firm with very few of their boats still around, but I'd love to hear from anybody who owns one (or knows where any are), there's a photo of my craft at http://ttbrally.users.netlink.co.uk/gallery.html

Also, just in case anybody is interested, Swin Swale and Swatchway by H Lewis Jones, published once and only in 1892, has now been republished in the USA; see

http://www.dngoodchild.com/seasonal3.htm

Also on the list is "In Tidal Waters" by Fancis B Cooke, both these books Maurice Griffiths mentioned as influences for "Magic of the Swatchways". I spent many years trying to find a copy of Swin Swale and Swatchway, and when
I eventually got a computer, asked my first internet question on one of the sailing newsgroups, ie where could I find a copy, the next day somebody put me onto Gillingham Library, and by the weekend I'd managed to photocopy the whole book. I've still never found an original, although did get the 1893 follow up "Last Cruise of the Teal" (Lewis Jones, a famous doctor/author, called himself Leigh Ray for that book).

"In Tidal Waters" is a series of pre turn of the century (1900 century) sailing tales by Francis Cooke, mostly based around the Lobster Pot at Holehaven, and is very different to his later books which were repeated information (IMO) sailing manuals type books.

Welcome to you and thanks for the info on the book place in the States. He has some other gems in re-print.

Has anyone experience in ordering from them? I quite fancy a copy of Dixon Kemp though I can see it is not identical to the very early copy I have from the library at the moment.

We (my father & me) owned an Everyman from 1983 until we sold it in 2003. When purchased it was in a very sorry state and needed a complete rebuild/refit. Only the hull and forward bulkhead was retained. Rebuild took about 2 years. Did not retain the mast due to height/storage when travelling the canals but otherwise the outward appearance was very similar to the original.
Relaunched in August 1985. Sailed extensively in Channel Island waters, the Brittany canals to the Gulf Du Morbihan (South Britanny) and the Seine to Paris.
Boat sold to enable purchase of a faster vessel.

We naturally have a number of photographs. If interested, either pm or e-mail me and I will send a link to a web address for viewing.
