I am looking for a small trailer-sailer, and I am seriously thinking of buying one or the other; has anyone direct knowledge of how they compare?
All info gratefully received.

The Beaulieu river has an active fleet of Swift 18s, kept at Buckler's Hard. I did consider one about 15 years ago but they were too cramped for me and some were so basic as to rely on bucket & chuck it sanitation (OK for an overnight,I suppose, but vetoed on a cruising boat by SWMBO).

The Swift should sail circles round the Eagle.

The Swift is much more of a boat, much faster, prettier and far more seaworthy.

The Eagle / Skipper 17 is a sheltered waters design with creek crawling and overnight capability but IMO that's about it.

I'd definitely go for the Swift; I did know of a boatbuilder with ideas of putting the Swift back into production, don't know what came of it; maybe he's waiting for the recession to go.
