Swanage fireworks start this Saturday. Anyone going, often seen a forum gathering there in the past, so how about it, Col, Duncan, BarryH, Rickp, Wiggo etc, etc.

I'll probably potter round on Saturday, and stay until Sunday, hopefully conditions a bit better than of late.

Mind, I gather fireworks start this weekend and go on until end of August this year, so plenty of opportunities. :)

We've had some bloody good Swanage fireworks. Even the one where they cancelled 'cos of the rain still resulted in a good time despite the lack of whizz-bangs ;). Remember this?

Alas, this weekend I can't do as I'm away on business. Will keep you posted - as may be around on the 8th/9th (could do Cowes Fireworks friday evening, Swanage on Saturday, then watch the Fastnet nutters on Sunday).

They usually start at 10:00pm, probably best be on station by 9:45.

Anchor in the bay near the beach, the fireworks are set off from the stone jetty on the beach. Give reasonable clearance from the jetty, especially down wind.

It really is a good show, you get a unique view in the bay, and the whizzes and bangs echo around the bay in a way you don't experience when viewed from the land.

Oh and more details here. Swanage

The Swan' carnival is one we keep missing, weather permitting, I might take a trip over on Saturday afternoon.

I'll keep my eye out for the forum flags.

Btw. Rick, the non forum pub meet was well attended and good fun. I think they achieved expectations on fund raising too.

Red Arrows due 1630hrs (actually 1637hrs) Saturday. Officially confirmed.

Only a few days ago, they put out an announcement that they'd cancelled the display, and I put a link to the story from the Echo on scuttlebut.

The excuse at the time was that three dispalys in one day was too much for them. At the moment, on the Red Arrows website, they're showing 3 displays set for saturday, 2 in Sunderland and a fly past at Dover........ nothing yet about Swanage.

With my partners birthday being on Sunday, we'd origianlly planned to go to Swanage to see the display...... but after the cancellation made other plans for the day!

Still, I did get to see them at Lyme Regis on wednesday...... and took some photos to show my partner.

Mines been purloined, haven't got in touch with Haydn to replace it with one with wire instead of cord.

hope to get down there Saturday, in fact we're off to Tescos to store ship tonight.
