Where else but on the Medway of course, the only river where the swans are actually owned by the locals aka, Mayor of Maidstone under a Royal Charter.
Another upstart river which makes a bit of song and dance about this merely is allowed to count somebody elses birds as favour.
Hampstead and Yalding Cruising Club will be arranging a cruise on July 2nd down though Allington Lock to the "Hawkestone" which marks the ancient lower boundary of the Mayors juristiction. Beyond lies Dragons and the Rochester Floating Oyster Fishery.
RCC has been invited once again to meet their flottila and return upriver to a reception being held just above Bow Bridge at Wateringbury.
There will be a short stop for "refreshments" in Maidstone Town Centre.
Those of us with flybridges will be attending the reception by road.
Anybody around please keep an eye out and wave.
