I crewed on Betty Alan at this event a couple of years ago. Very enjoyable day. The beer & cider tent was a great success and the trip back in the dinghy in the dark was memorable!
 
I found this clip of the Gravesend race circa 1934.

Can you spot the names of any barges still going ?


I taped a 1935 film Flood Tide showing on Talking Pictures channel recently which I think used this
piece. Quite a good film. Lots of barges and a trip down the Thames with good shots of Old Leigh.
They were dismantling the old Waterloo Bridge at the time.
