I need to get a new tender (2adults 1 child) and have seen one of these at a local chandlery for £665 with a 2.5hp 4 stroke. would the engine be ok to push the 3 of us? and is the tender big enough

if its the 265 , 3 is ok ,but 3.5hp engine will be better for the medway due to tide.

I've used a 2.5 Mariner 2st. on a 260 wetline for the last few seasons, never had a problem with the tide @ Beaulieu (swing mooring) Was absoluetly fine with 2 adults and run a few times with 4 but that was pushing the boat - engine coped but was starting to struggle also - that was in Newtown Creek.
Depends on your useage I guess, If it's regular use then maybe hop up the boat slightly larger and engine up to 3.5.
If it's fairly infrequent and not long, long distances 260/2.5 would cope fine if conditions are similar to those around here.
I must say I was never put in a position when the 2.5 couldn't cope with the tide inc rotten weather in winter and Spring tides.
