Hello All,
This is my first post on this forum. I am about to purchase a locally built power boat wit ha suzuki DF115 OBM. Now, the side mount remote controller looks like this

The trim switch is not operable by the right thumb.

Can I modify this remote control (flip the lever for example) to bring the trim switch under the right thumb?
Regards
Akshay

Nothing is impossible, they say!
However it would be a heck of task
You will find it won't be a big problem once you get used to it
In fact sometimes its a benefit
It can be quite easy to 'work' the trim button inadvertently in a chop if it's too handy. Or should that read 'thumby'!

thank you for your reply!
How much of a task would it be? AFAIK, you can change the lever from a starboard side to port side mount. does it mean, I would have to put a spacer between the console and remote?

Yes, you can move the handle to the other side and mount the body on spacers, but unless the spacers are very long, you wont be able to get your thumb to the trim switch when the lever is at full throttle, because the console will be in the way. This may not be a problem in practice, if you rarely use full throttle, or can ease back before fine tuning your trim.

It seems an unnecessary mod though. Do you have a handicap, or just think it would be easier to operate with your thumb? If the latter, then you're worrying about nothing, and you'll just find your own technique for operating the trim switch.

no handicap. just thought it would be easier. And fancied a DIY project!
Thank you for your reply. I will leave it alone for now!

Nick_H is correct tannaster. My advice would be to try it as is. I remember my first boat had a right hand throttle and a right hand helm if you get my drift
Next one had a right hand helm and a left hand throttle
Next one a left hand helm and throttle!
It realy doesn't take long to adapt
