Suzuki outboard kill switch button popped out

Yes, this was stupid, please read on.... I was wanting to test my Suzuki DF2.5 outboard and the kill cord was down on the boat. I used a small spanner as a temporary kill switch key while pulling the cord. Unfortunately I levered it too much and popped my kill switch button right out. Is there a way to put it back in? Has anyone any experience of this? :redface-new:

What does the end look like?
If it is barbed or mushroom shaped you might be able to splay the end and push it back in.
If it is ragged then you have broken it !!

You can pick up kill switches cheap off fleabay with both options of make to stop/break to stop, if trying to start with out the cord normally disconecting the wire does the trick and just earth it to stop the engine.

Definitely not broken, there's a circlip that gas been holding it in place. Definitely can't just be pushed in either :-(

Mine did the same, and there are no wires inside attached to it, is that right?

I have a related problem. We got a brand new 15hp suzuki ob and in the process of putting the new 106lb engine on our dinghy, the kill switch button broke off (ugh). Is it possible to just replace the button? If not, what components will we need. Thanks in advance.
