Hi,

It's been a while since I have visited the forum for one reason or another, however I'm calling on your help if possible please.

I have recently acquired the above engine as part of a fishing boat project with my son. Whilst sorting out the wiring I had cause to open the remote box and all the bits fell out.

The wiring is now sorted but something has gone amiss as I can only get the throttle control cable to push at the engine end when it should be pulling.

What have I done wrong?

Any help or advice greatfully received.

Dean

Sounds like the throttle cam is fitted the wrong way round, if you study how it moves it should be apparent that the link arm is mounted the wrong side. Sorry if this is a bit vague but its easier to how it works when you move the throttle.

Thanks for the reply,

I have been racking my brain all day about this. The schematic on Brownspoint shows the banana shaped plate the other way around which would make sense. However that plate is pressed onto the other plates and does not come off. I have also looked at buying a new one and that part number listed shows the exact set up I already have.

I'm stumped.

I guess you have already checked, but are you sure that the cable should pull and not push. Or did it pull before you opened the control box.

Hi,
Having done a lot more research it would appear that this control box is not the one for the engine. It definitely has to pull the throttle.
Thanks to Dangar Marine on YouTube he does the reversal fix that I need to do on a Yamaha 703 unit which appears to be exactly the same.
If I cannot find the right pat (67220-95620) at a reasonable price then I will grind around the edge of the pressed pins and alter it myself using washers and small bolts to rejoin it. (He explains it far better than I could, but I understand what I have to do)

Therefore I now know where I was going wrong.

Cheers
