Hi all ,
new to the forum so hello , just picked up a suzuki dt2.2 it starts & runs ok, but
running in a test tank it seems to make the water very dirty quick . Tried fuel mix 100-1
& 50-1 both seem to make the water dirty with oil and both seem to smoke from the exhaust ,seem to smoke worse on 100-1.Plug ok and using total neptuna oil in the mix . Hope this make sense .But
what is the best setup for these outboard or have i been sold a donkey. Thanks ps oil seems to be from the exhaust lower unit ,gear box seems ok. Or are these dirty outboards. Thanks again for any help

Hi and welcome
Make sure the oil bottle has 'TCW3' written on it somewhere then if so that lube is ok
100/1 is ok too
When running in a tub the engine is not 'under load' and will spit out excess fuel and oil
If She idles ok that is a good sign
On the other hand if the Engine has two large pointy ears?!!
:D:;)

Thse engines were sold for leisure use at 100:1 and commercial use at 50:1. Effectively leisure use engines will see far less hours and will likely pack up due to other reasons than wearing out, so they appear more enviornmentally friendly.

I run my DT15 at 50:1 BUT that was after two seasons running it as a 4 stroke (would be a DF15) with no oil added at all. Don't ask me why I thought it was a four stroke, but I am sure the prior owner mentioned it, and it was so quiet and such a good starter I assumed it must have been a 4 stroke - I found out it wasn't when it eventually started to seize. Now after a full season at initially 25:1 and now at 50:1 it seems to have survived the abuse of no oil at all.

A little smokier on 50:1. You can also try it midway at say 75:1.

PM me if you want the manual.
