I recently got the outboard from my uncle and it's probably not the DT100 you were expecting to see. It hasn't been used a great deal, but probably needs a service, although it starts/runs nicely and pumps water well.

I've had difficulty finding information about this outboard on the internet, so i phoned a Suzuki Outboard dealership today. The gentleman i spoke with was unaware of the outboard i described, and even stated that the DT100 stickers could have been a previous owner having a joke.

It could be an import, it has spelling mistakes on the sticker on top of the hood. Mistake in translation?

I'm considering selling it, because i'm young and a 70's outboard just isn't cool, but how much could i realistically get for it? The other option would be to get it serviced and make the most out of it.

First people I would contact would be Suzuki UK to see if they want to buy it for a display.

No idea what its worth but a straight swop for a new 5hp Suzuki would be a good deal if Suzuki are interested.

Good idea Pete, i'll email there customer service team now and will follow it up with a phone call tomorrow if i haven't heard from them.

Got a reply from Suzuki GB and they're unable to purchase/offer a swap.

They suggested i should contact/offer it to companies in there dealer network, although i'm not convinced i'll have much luck...

You could just ebay it as a DT 100. Age believed to be early 1970s

With luck some mug will think its a 100HP model and pay 10 times what its worth.

It looks a little gem though. A real cool little motor!

If you want an outboard that sort of size use it and enjoy it.

I had a blue coloured version of what looks like the identical engine, but it was 5 or 6 hp I think. The main drawback was that it was very heavy for the hp output and it was a short shaft so I was limited to which dinghy I could use it on. It was very very reliable, always started but I remember it was a bit noisey. I got it with a Skipper 17 in 1993, and it was an old engine then.

Someone might pay £100, if you are lucky. Is it very heavy??

Weighs 30kg, so is rather heavy! Just upto £100? I hoped it would be worth more.

Did yours have a plastic hood? 80's engine?

Mine had a metal hood. The colour was a match with a blue shade of Hammerite as I had to repaint the lower cowling. My local outboard man who must be at least 80 now said it was an old engine, early 1970's.

I suppose you might get £150 for it if you are lucky. I wonder if you can still get impellors for the water pump. I know in 1993 washers for the petrol tap were not available so I had to make one out of neoprene.
