Suzuki DF6 hesitates

Having finally found an impellor for the water pump and tried it in the water, the engine hesitates when the throttle is opened. I suspect the float level is too low, as it is not horizontal when it closes the fuel valve. Any other ideas out there? The jets are clean.

My Yamaha does this sometimes if the fuel is not fresh. It will start fine, idle fine, run under load fine, but from idle if the throttle is opened quickly, it splutters a bit for a second or two, then gets its act together, and picks up revs. Solution for me is new fuel.

Incidently, putting stale fuel in my MGF when I had it was not a solution to using up the old fuel, unless it was diluted well with fresh fuel, because it would do exactly the same.

Something to do with the lighter volatile fractions evaporating.
