Suzuki DF2 Outboard - query

Rather than hijacking the earlier thread:

I have just bought one of these engines second hand, via the forum, and ran it for the first time since buying it, in my wheelie bin at home.

There was no tell tale stream of water - in fact I thought the vendor said there wasn't one. I did see the engine running when I bought it, but can't remember whether there was a tell tale or not.

The water in my wheelie bin came up to just above the inlet holes in the leg. I ran it for 3-4 mins with no ill effects.

Unfortunately the handbook is on the boat!

Any reassurance/comments gratefully received.

You will only see a spray of water spluttering out at half speed or above, nothing at idle. Safe enough, thats what it says in the book.
