Hi guys

Just working my way through the tender motor and have so far refurbed the carbie, amazing it was running at all there was that much gunk and crap in there, Jets were all but blocked, also replaced the Jets for larger to help idle etc.

I've changed all fluids and replaced rubber and plastics that have been hammered by the sun here. Runs sweet and is looking almost new :)

Next job is impeller as I doubt it has been changed in 9 years. I was about to drop the leg and got as far as taking the prop off (to straighten some minor damage by previous owner and noticed the shear pin was an S shape.

I assume someone has dropped a peice of stainless rod in previously instead of the correct shear pin, as I can't get the thing bent straight and assume a shear pin would shear?

Any tips for straightening it so I can pull it out? Or other methods?

Steve

cant you just cut one end off flush with the shaft and punch the remainder out with a pin punch ?

Putting small diameter tube over the pin will give you good leverage.

New pins can be cut from brass rod, for about 10p each.
