Suzuki 60hp o/b, oil warning light

Hi all,

Got a problem with my suzuki 60hp (2003). The oil light has recently started flashing, so, I put oil in it. Nothing out of the ordinary so far! However, it still flashes even after putting loads in. Any suggestions?

An unrelated (i think!) problem is that, when giving revs in idle, it jumps all over the place (i.e. from 2000 suddenly to 3500, then to 2500 etc...).
Any more suggestions? Could the problems be related?

It is most likely that it's telling you need a service. You can reset the memory by pulling the kill cord switch about 10-15 times. This resets the system. It will occur around every 100 hours.
 
Yes, I think it is the oil change reminder light. I only have the DF90 handbook and it says "When the total operating hours have reached the preprogrammed hours, the oil lamp will flash. It the engine is not running, the buzzer will begin a series of double beeps."

To test that it is the reminder, try cancelling it by
1. Turn ignition to 'ON' position.
2. Pull out the emergency stop plate - in other words, pull out the kill cord.
3. Pull up the stop switch knob three times in 10 seconds. A short beep will be heard if the cancellation is successfully finished.
4. Turn key to 'OFF' position.

I always thought this was accompanied by a limit on the revs you could get, until you cancelled it.

No, well not on our 200hp jobbies. Just the annoying blink of the light.

No, there is a built on rev limiter so you can't over rev when you are revving out of gear. Perfectly normal for that to happen.
 
Superb, it matches all the symptons you describe. Thanks all, I will give it a shot tomorrow. Once again the forum has saved me some bucks / time. Now, about this weather....
