The 2 stroke 2.2 hp suzuki was serviced last winter and has been running well. Not any more. Petrol is really pouring out of the front of the air intake, choke plate.

Having removed the choke plate I am at a a loss. Is this a needle valve issue?

Help!

Fast reply!!

Do I need toremove the whole carburettor to get at the valve? Thank you so much

Probably not if you can access the float chamber retaining screws but watch out for little bits escaping if you dont remove it.

See the diagram in the link added to my earlier post

Well. Thank you very much VicS and Lakesailor. I feel very pleased with myself but I am so grateful for your help. The diagram and advice was spot on. I took off the carb, removed the bowl (which had about a teaspoon of iron filings or something in the bottom) removed the needle valve, cleaned it, put it all back and didnt lose any bits. And hurrah the engine works and no longer pours fuel out.

What a result.

Happy I am

I got all excited for a minute, sadly that site doesn't cover my model:

Suzuki DT2.2 Outboard
00221 DT2.2, build year 1997.
Serial number 00221-861942
Model year 1998 W 00221 861001 DT2.2SW

I'm trying to gather as much info as I can before selling it.

I think it probably only covers /applies to models which were sold in the US

Nigel. If you do a search for SUZUKI 2.2 last February 'Lady in Bed'quoted some references to diagrams and instructions for this model, covering gearbox, plugs etc which I have in my 'Favourites' folder for future references. I do have the user manual for my 1998 model but not a very explicit job or exploded digrams therin.
