Stick compass and oil in the fridge before attempting refilling.
I wouldn't have thought a vacuum system would work very well on liquid.
So found where I saw that and something does make sense:
refilling a compass after repair, What oil?
One post mentions putting the fluid under 28 Hg for 15 minutes to degas the fluid. Obviously you need to take the vacuum off to plug the compass. Degassing does make sense to me.
If you build a well around the filler hole (use bluetack or similar) then inject oil in through filler hole until well is also full, then put plug in under the oil in the well, that should eliminate any bubbles.Understood, my question was how to prevent a bubble after refilling. I read somewhere that professionals use a vacuume system to make sure there are no remaining bubbles after the refill.
