Could someone please advise on the procedure for passing through the lock gate at the entrance to the harbour!

Thanks

I think it's permanently manned with "traffic" lights, presume they open it either after seeing you or call them on VHF, probably channel 14.

Sutton harbour Plymouth. No worries. Just call the lock up. Chanel 12 if I remember. Mumble some thing about going in or out. Then he'll call back with a few excusses about opening/ closing doors/ bridge. Then when bridge/ lock opens, just dive in, but maybe let fishy men first or trouble!. Tie up to pontoon. (it floats) Hang about a bit while lock keeper dose his thingy, then sail out outher end.. When not tuned to radio devon, switch to Sutton lock, it's far more entertaining. Dont take the lights to seriously just use common sence. (If there is any in Devon) All very easy with no flap. Not to sure about the word procedure, sounds far to complicated for Sutton Lock!!
