Sutton bridge morings, update

Sutton Bridge Marina

Over the past months I have sent two e-mails to the bridge watch website regarding a mooring but as yet no reply from Nene Marine. How do you contact them?

Sutton Bridge Marina

Thanks for that macnorton.
Between postings I was contacted by Nene Marine.
Looks like space for smaller boats only.

That number is for the harbour office, but they don't deal with the moorings at Sutton Bridge.

I can't find the number for the guy who is dealing with them, will have to wait until Wednesday, due to the bank hols.

I understood that WYH would also be running the Marina at Sutton once it is built, sail at Sutton and Mobo at Wisbech.
Would you send me the number for Sutton if that is not to be the case?

I also understand that WYH will be running the moorings at Sutton Bridge, but i'm not entirely sure what "running them" means. WYH are not booking the moorings for Sutton Bridge though. Not sure why you think it'll be sail at Sutton and mobo at Wisbech, we have a mooring booked at Sutton for our mobo, as does my brother for his mobo.

I'll get the contact name and number for Sutton tomorrow and post it here.

Well October 2012 is here but it seems no marina, what is happening?

Nuffink. Everything is still stacked up on the other side to the moorings in Wisbech.

Two things keep popping into my mind.

a) It'll never be done.

b) It's billed as being non-profit making, but apparently the "directors" get to take a earn out of it all.....................................................

I found the following statement on the Sutton Bridge village website. I hope that this is resolved & the project goes ahead.

"We have been on the starting blocks to issue the contracts to construct this new facility since the summer but an issue has arisen that's caused Lincolnshire County Council to hold back for a while. This is around land ownership and has resulted in a document chase through the Cambridgeshire Archive Offices alongside them seeking legal advice from Counsel in order to clarify the way forward and safeguard the considerable investment of public monies into the project.

This work remains ongoing and has delayed the start of construction which will now start next year. We have been able to retain both the construction contractors services and the funding so the project will still go ahead.

The new marina could be completed as early as next spring or at the latest during the latter part of the year.

It is of course disappointing to everyone when obstacles appear so late on in the life of a project, but LCC take the pragmatic approach that checks they make leading into contract awards and commitments to leases and other agreements are the final checks on the security and sustainability of their projects. They might occasionally throw up anomalies such as this but their projects are all the better for that in the longer term".
