A successful day for all apart from the yard hand at Foulkes who I inadvertently knocked off his perch at the hydraulic controls on the haul out trailer. Fortunately he landed on his feet in only 3' of water.

The lowest moisture levels the Surveyor had seen for a 30 year old boat of this marque, and just a few minor weeps and drips from the 30 year old VP TAMD60C.

No delamination nor other significant issues, and indeed as I understand it virtually no insignificant issues.

Thanks to Julian of Hamble Marine Surveys and Tom Parker of TOMPA Marine for an educational day out. Bearing in mind I am the vendor, I would highly recommend both these guys for an honest and thoroughly explained survey process. I do not expect to see the written reports, but they were both happy to share there findings verbally and explain their processes.

Thanks also for Ocean Belle behaving impeccably throughout the sea trial.

Now just got to wait to complete in the next week or so.

Now where is that Corvette 32 ...

Great news. Tom handled the mechanical survey on my Azi. He is absolutely first class, and I've heard nothing but praise from others either.

Good luck with your search.

How did your anodes fare at Foulkes? The Azi was the other side of the bridge at the Cabin, and anode erosion was too rapid for my liking.

Since I have resolved the litany of problems causing stray currents to exist, this year only saw the anodes wear less than 1/4, so they have gone round again for the first time since I have owned OB. Looking at them today they had both good continuity to the stern gear and were fresh in appearance.

Volvopaul commented a couple of years ago about the situation at the Cabin, so whether there is something or indeed someone largely causing a stray current problem. The worse are AC voltage leaks. it is a fallacy to think AC currents do not cause anode wear, they do and because the voltages involved are larger the were rate can be horrific, and AC leakage won't stop at the zincs.

Glad to hear that the Survey went well Trevor, I know first hand how much pride you took in maintaining her. I'm sure her new owners will get many years of fun with her. Hope you find your next boat quickly, I wouldn't want to miss out on the summer if I were in your shoes.

Thanks for all the kind remarks.

SWMBO reckons I will be like a cat on a hot tin roof until I find the next one, and I thought this process would take a lot longer than it has. I must say I do find it strange joining those normal members of the human race who actually do not own a boat. Still I do still have Kita, the little RIB I acquired with Ocean Belle, which I excluded from the sale.

My last two sales saw me boatless for 2 hours then 2 weeks respectively. For this one I am finding quite a few to consider, but not yet the right one to offer against. This might mean a season on the beach with some river trips to the Horse & Jockey or perhaps one of the Jolly Sailors.

You need to get yourself over to the Channel Islands.Few Corvettes over there including one with the 210hp thorneycroft/cummins that Latestarter thinks is an ideal match.
Happy boat hunting, this is the fun bit!

In discussions with one broker, still awaiting a response from the other Jersey firm. One interestingly is listed by two brokers one at £80k the other at £69.5k. Still overprice IMHO, especially when you add on the VAT.

Mind you I blotted my copy book with one of the CI Brokers when he sent me on a 500 mile fools errand to view a spectacular (ly bad !!!) Corvette in 2011, when I told him what I thought of wasting my time, still I did find OB on that trip, but wonder if that is why I am having trouble getting response from the brokers over there.

Well that's it (virtually) boatless !

Ocean Belle completed her sale to her new owners today. A good boat to a nice couple for a fair price (IMHO). Cracking boat for me and good time had by all.

Happiest day - mixed feelings !

So now how do I get to Cowes ?

Well that IS good news, May not feel it today, but it is great to get your boat sold.

But I do hope you find your corvette soon. A keen corvette fan myself... Good luck

Many congratulations, and good luck with finding your new boat. Seems like boats are shifting again now. The Azi 46 at the Cabin has also sold. Only took a couple of months or so, so great result.

Congrat on selling and good luck with the search for the next one. Much fun to be derived from boat hunting! :)
We had a boatless season before we got the current boat. Not planning to repeat the experience any time soon!
