I don't have many to compare with but I've used Anthony Head, it was a few years ago to do my codeing examination/recemendations, and he was very fare and knowledgable.

John Merrett - I.Eng., AMRINA. Telephone/fax (01752)564252 is the surveyor I used for my purchase of Eloise last year from Millbrook. Very professional - years of experience and sensible about the problems offering good advice. I would use him again anytime and his charges were a lot less than many others in the area.

Hi Podge,
I too have used Anthony Head, in fact (as a friend) he's checking out my boat next week, but I don't think he now does full surveys, though I may be wrong.
As mentioned he is 'Ahead Surveys'.
If you don't call him beforehand and wish it, I'll ask him next Tuesday when we meet and PM you.

Wholeheartedly recommend John Merrett - as I work in a marina here seen him do loads of surveys - very thorough, and very fair.

I am confident that Tony Head not longer does survey for purchase work. (he's also a friend)

Hi Podge,
Spent a few hours with Tony Head (the Plymouth surveyor) on my boat today and asked him whether he still carried out full surveys.
As I and others here suspected, he confirmed that he no longer does these, but restricts himself to inpsecting and advising on boats to be be used for charter and the like that require compliance with all the regulations we seem to be getting swamped with these days.
He asked me to thankyou for considering him but didn't recommend an alternative surveyor. Sorry I couldn't help more.
