Anyone able to recommend a good surveyor in the Southampton/Lymington area for a motor boat pre purchase survey.

No I don't have an interest in the sale, quite right.

It is forum etiquette to declare an relationship though when recommending someone for a service. Just so people know whose advice is impartial and whose may be biased.

Thats all.

What would make you think I haven't?

I 100% agree that it is good practise to declare a relationship if you have a vested interest.
But there wasn't any need to do that on the open forum.
The PM system is perfectly good enough for that.

But as I have no vested interest at all (apart from I might get a better bottle of wine for Christmas) I don't see any reason why it would be an issue whether I had or not.

If the OP chooses to use Nick which I don't know as I haven't spoken to either properly since the exchange yesterday I will be looking forward to an upgrade from the usual Tesco 50% off Cabernet Shiraz to something more like a rather nice Italian Zinfandel I had not long ago.
That is my interest! Oh, I am also interested in the OPs planned new boat as it sounds very nice and would love to know more if the sale goes ahead...

Worth finding out if prospective surveyor has particular knowledge of specific boat you are interested in. Geof Waddington is local and has a great knowledge of Princess boats, so I used him when buying mine. Good service at a fair price. He also provided a market valuation for the insurance company at no extra charge.

Jim is very much still working - I just text him on your behalf - Look@ his website - He does loads of work for Princess - Sunseeker etc so you can't go far wrong with him as very very experienced with all boats inc sail - He is a really great chap and very much down to earth and offers excellent vfm - Will and does travel globally on behalf of clients.

No connection btw - Just a very happy customer - Let him know I text him on your behalf.

Thanks Terry, I withdraw what I said.

Can't for the life of me think who it was I tried to book, I was looking for an alternative to the chap I had used before.

ETA - Just googled, think I had Roger Pimm in mind.
