Surveyor Recommendation: Solent Area

About to make offer on a boat in the Solent area. Since I am from Plymouth I would really appreciate a few recommendations of good surveyors in the area - preferably ones that people have had direct experience with.

Boat is a blue water cruiser aprox 80k.

I used Jim Pritchard. (He is in all the mags). Pot luck choice but found out that he was well known. I believe he used to be a boat builder as well.

I've just used Hugo Morgan-Harris of Saunders Morgan Harris for the second time. First class job both times.

Definite vote for Duncan Saunders at Saunders Morgan Harris. Absolutely fantastic service. We also are in Plymouth and he provided a top class service when surveying our boat in the Hamble.
The survey was very meticulous and detailed.

Have used both Staton Bevan (as a buyer, he saved me money) and Hopkins (as a seller, he cost me money!), both are very good.

Hopkins surveyed my old boat, for the purchaser. He complained in his report that the batteries where completely dead and needed replacement.

Seems he couldn't find the main battery switch. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
