Can anyone recommend a surveyor based near Strangford Lough NI to undertake an extensive pre-purchase survey of a 1977 34' sailboat?

Andrew (?) Jaggers of Bangor ( N Ireland) marina did one for me very quickly and efficiently. Well presented report inc excellent pics arrived within a week.
 
Hi Phideaux, so you're still looking for a boat ? Did you see this She 36 ? There's another here but I think it's more than you were looking to pay.

Yes, I've spoken with the owner and will probably go down to see it either this weekend or, more likely, next weekend when I'm viewing a boat at Lymington. The SHE at Portsmouth has had no survey in 30 years, no osmosis treatment, sounds very basic and is really setup for racing, although hasn't had much use in the last 18 months. Interestingly it's tiller steered. I suspect that it needs a lot spent on it to turn it into a fast comfortable cruiser for single handed sailing.
 
You could try Ken Walsh. I have no experience of this work but he has an advert in the marina year book

I had an insurance survey done on a 36ft ketch at Carrickfergus, very quickly and efficiently by:

I'm not sure what his credentials are. Probably easiest to give him a ring at 02891453297.
 
Northern Ireland has a number of excellent surveyors but in the past they were not members of the required association and U.K Insurers were not always happy to accept their work.
Best contact your insurer and ask if they know any who are acceptable to them.
Kirk is very well known in boating fraternity.
Ken Walsh is also well known.
They both know their job wery well.
Andrew Jaggers was a good surveyor but I dont think he doesany surveying now.

That's the boy. Impossible to recommend too highly - not only does he know his stuff but he will be very practical and sensible about any remedial work needed. Brokers on the Clyde wet themselves when they hear he's doing the survey.
