Does anyone have a good survey story to tell?
Was it thorough, efficient, painless, good value? Or a total disaster? Is there anything you would expect to be covered in a survey that isn't? Are they good value, or a rip-off?
Speak to me!

(Names will be changed to protect the innocent - if they want...)

It is as with all other things; You get what you're willing to pay for. but yes unfortunately there are a few nitwit - ex postman Pats who think they know about boats-around still but their number is decreasing rapidly with the professionalisation of the leisure industry.
I do not think it helps to put up ripoff disaster stories.
pay for your survey with your AmEx card. If it is a ripoff, AmEx will refund you ! (they claim in their adverts here on the continent )

i had surveyor look at a boat and do a survey report for a boat that i already owned, just before the warrnaty ran out. Quite good. Frank Verrill did it. Then I went and beat up the boat dealer with the report. 300 quid as i remember.

Not telling as last time you laughed at me.

So you unscrew this, and put it safely here, then oopps...
All - IMHO, BTW, FWIW and NWGOI

I agree, you get what you pay for. Don't misunderstand me, the purpose of this story is not to put boat buyers off trusting surveyors, but more to make them aware of the survey process and what to expect from a survey. This must be a useful exercise. And if the profession is more regulated these days, that too must be worth telling people.
As a surveyor, if you have any remarks to make regarding the role and service of a surveyor, please reply to me here, email me your tel. no. or call me +44 (0)207 261 5495 - would be v useful to speak to you.

Go on Barry, tell us a tale
(apologies for laughing at your last account... I have absolutely no recollection. Could have been the wine at the Xmas party?)
