Why come on YBW and ask for advice and then hold off on the details?

I stand by what I said, its very much a buyers market at the moment, so if something doesngt feel right, walk away.

Re: Survey shows knakered outdrive....(Nothing New There Then)

Just a quick comment or three,ye olde outdrives are grief.Period.

99% of most small boats have got them and 100% of fast small whizzy boats. So you are stuck with them.

There will be loads of other boats around for sale with outdrives in various states of falling to bits, you have either got to find one that is less falling to bits than most or if you fancy yourself as a fixer upper buy one cheap and have a go.
As VolvoPaul ses repair costs are basically what the market will bear, find the right man and you can get the job done properly first time and at a sensible cost.
It may all come down to either, how quickly you want to be out on to the water, how good you are with a hammer,or have you only enough dosh to buy a fixer up job in the first place.
If you have the unlimited amounts of dosh apparently available to most forum members /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gifthen buy the best you can,if not, good luck in what ever you decide.

clearly the OP doesn't believe the model/manufacturer relevant to the thread

it's not unusual for people to be reticent to post exact details of craft they are negotiating on - there have certainly been examples of people finding thier dream boats bought from under thier noses by people made aware of the craft on a forum...........
