I have noticed a few posts recently suggesting that mid season lift and pressure wash can be quite economical at marinas on the south coast.
How much do you coastal guys have to pay for a survey lift ie lift, hold in strops for an hour or so and return to water?
Up here on the Thames its around £250 for a 35foot boat which seems bloody expensive to me, and that doesnt include pressure wash which would be another £35..... /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Brighton lift and wash =£120 for a 40 footer, late summer deals usualy about £70 -90. Channel Islands & Cherbourg cheaper.

I have just had my boat out on the Beaulieu River at Bucklers Hard. Their "Summer Scrub" deal is lift out pressure wash block up for a week and then put back in £135 + VAT for my 7m boat. A good deal I feel. Also they were really nice people who were always only too ready to help.

Too right it is, so why do we all keep putting up with the high prices ? Also what does bug me is that a lift out is charged by length, why ?? It should be a set fee or charged by time. I can't accept that it costs more to lift a 30 footer compared with a 20 footer, you still need the same equipment but the cost is so much higher.

So come on Mr Marine Industry please provide a suitable justification for this bad practice. Your customer deserve an explanation.

Essex Marina was £120 inc vat, Just up river from where you were on Saturday.

Tony, it would be nice to get this data tabulated for future reference, I can host it if you like. We also need to establish the Marina's approx breakeven point say a 15 footer x an average rate per foot, so that folks then know how much more they are paying when the lift fee is calulated on lenght.

What do you think.
