As is the case with my old E80 Classic, the sun-cover of my new Axiom is sometimes quite difficult to remove requiring the cover to be simultaneously held at the corner and sides to get it off . I was planning to install it flush mounted rather than surface mounted with the unit recessed by 8mm in accordance with Raymarine’s instructions but I think that this may add to to the difficulty. The cover has a tab at the bottom to pull but it doesn’t seem to work easily. I would appreciate the views of anybody who has installed it as a flush-mount. Thank you.

Ian, not a Axiom, but there other range an Element 9". Hadn't noticed the problem with the cover unlike our old C80 which was difficult.

I recently flush mounted my Axiom 9 Pro. No problems getting the sun cover on and off. I’m not sure what you mean by recessing the unit 8mm. It surface mounts with a gasket behind it.

According to the mounting template there are two options - surface mount and flush mount. When flush mounting, a 6.5mm x 8mm deep rebate is formed around the cut-out allowing the Axion to be recessed so that the face of the sun-cover is ‘flush‘ with the face of the surrounding panel. In reality the cover is nominally proud of the panel but only by about 3 - 4mm. Does this make the sun-cover difficult to remove? Trying to remove the cover using only the plastic tab at the bottom, which it seems to me is the only way of pulling the cover when it is flush, seems awkward.
