Sorry but this is a bit OTT. It was an early piece of info on the fact we have been looking into ways of scrapping the need for cookies (something requested from time to time by users) and not the announcement of a new system at all. See Website news for the full explanation.

Be assured it's going to stay the way it is for now and we won't be making any changes without careful consideration of implications first.

I for one may not live aboard right now but I did so for five months in 1999 whilst running a magazine off a GSM phone and laptop. I also regularly monitor the forums on much crankier connections than the convenience of my office lease line and so have a full appreciation of the issues for users of this forum. Promise
