Suppliers of Teak Timber - Yorkshire

Hello,

I'm renovating, repairing and rebuilding some teak fittings, cockpit seats and so on. Does anyone know of a supplier of teak timber in Yorkshire? Somewhere around Leeds or Hull preferably. I'm not having much luck at the obvious places.

Have you tried Turners Retreat near Doncaster, John Boddy's, North Yorkshire, Craft Supplies, Derbyshire.

John Boddies are probably the best bet, others may do small amounts only.

Well worth a visit - walk around the wood store with a trolly and then get one hell of a shock when you realise how much you have spent.... They stock some very expensive and exotic bits of wood and will cut and machine to suit.

Interesting web site of a timber merchant near Hull. Probably more apprpriate if you want whole logs! However they may know small scale suppliers in the area.

Also try Somerscales just near Humberside Airport. Without doubt the best supplier of oak and other European hardwoods to what ever size and quantity you want and at prices that wont in any way upset you. don't recall though if they sell teak but very well worth asking. the owner has a yacht built by himself, 50 odd foot and the whole lot apparently is in English oak ......"Acorn"
