Just to save me abit of research and guesswork can anybody suggest a plywood supplier in Ipswich or Suffolk where I can buy a piece of faced ply suitable for new washboards?
Originals are in two pieces and have a strip of hardwood on bottom edges, is this the way to go? Any advantage in having three pieces (two are easy to store and quick to slot in). Don't fix on hardwood strips and use epoxy?
I am only replacing as the originals are delaminated on the face and have been varnished with brown Dulux carp (an abomination to a cabinet restorer).
Probably a well discussed subject on main forums but it is local knowledge for a supplier I am looking for please thank you.

Why not change to perspex
Believe it or not I sometimes think I 'suffer' from too much light in the early morning on board. If the weather is good I will sit out for hours and sometimes sleep out. I suppose Perspex gives the advantage of 'peering about'. My boat has blue Perspex windows but I am allergic to curtains. Besides which I would have to get these 'made-up' I think and wood is my thing (washboards are prob 50% of wood on deck). Mnnn, now I am thinking mid sentence, have to sleep on this. Are you suggesting Ipswich Plastics?
(Curious how Perspex Trademark is automatically given a notable Capital Letter (for me) on here, add this to ongoing conspiracy theory threads please)

Acrylic / Perspex is straightforward to work; treat it like aluminium - fine saws etc but I've also planed it.
I got some for replacement windows on last boat and got a good deal on offcut sized bits from a signmaker.
Can't help with ply supplier, I'm afraid

I made new washboards for my previous boat. I used solid Iroko, supplied by Thorogood's at Ardleigh (near Colchester). Being solid, I didn't have the bother of a solid framing and there will never be any delamination!
