Glad to hear my sanity is not in question. Had I been heading to France or leaving in inclement weather then a return to port would have been called for. However, slow acceleration didn't constitute an emergency for me and the conditions were not requiring feathering of throttles - as Peanuts says, the weather, tide etc were in my favour.

Now had the stereo not been working....

Stereo not working should only be a Pan-Pan.
Fridge not working is, in most cases: a Mayday (grave and imminent danger).

Nah, according to swmbo the fridge is also a pan-pan.
She'd reserve the mayday for a faulty hot shower.
I guess I can't complain though, most female forumites around here would surely agree...
