Superb Antifouling!!

We're now considering going Liveaboard as it is obvious from this picture that we don't need a veggie patch to grow our own!

Interesting!

We used Uno this year ... boat based in Portsmouth Harbour but we were away for 7 weeks in one go where we clocked up 700+ miles ... I'm sure that you have to move a boat with eroding a/f. Total for the season 1200+.

Have just bought another 2 tins :)

see 2007/8/9 history:

What will you try next year?
Uno just doesn't seem to work in Chi harbour - didn't work on the last boat either - may take up Seanicks suggestion above ....
Otherwise it will be Blakes Cruiser performer ..

how long were you in the water for?

We made it 5 1/2 months .... but she was in desperate need for a scrub after 2 ...

We dont know how long it had been since she was last lifted and scrubbed - we bought her in that condition. Looks a bit better now, eh? :D

We are in Haslar, BTW.

I'm jealous of your little weed patch

You all make me realise why I have just been charged extra for jet-washing off "excessive fouling". I was highly indignant considering I had cleaned the bottom of vastly more growth than that, by hand, only 6 weeks before lift out. How could there possibly have been excessive fouling I thought.

Then I see your pictures of a relatively clean boat after a whole 5 1/2 months! You are lucky not to be in the shallow warm waters of Poole.

FWIW this is why I shall probably be trying the Ultrasonic Antifouling this year. Derspite the scepticism of most forumites, which I respect. But anything has to be better than what I get.

Do you serve the crustacea with a lightly tossed green salad to your crew? :D

A few years ago I did half of my customers boats in Uno.......on lift out the crane driver asked wether I had used red emulsion..................
Try Seajet Shogun or Emperor.

I am based at Hardway Gosport - freeswinging mooring. I have used Seajet Shogun for 5 years with very satisfactory results. This year however was a disaster. The boat went in in 7th April, and I had to scrub her (as lightly as possible) at the end of June before our Brittany Cruise. By the end of August it was becoming a joke (4.5 knots under engine when it should be 7.5). We are still in the water for the winter, so will have to wait till March to see the full extent. We have sailed almost every weekend.

To be fair, Seajet have given us 50% discount for next year, on their top product Platinum, as we are off to warmer waters.

I think this must have just been a very bad year.

Having convinced Bav34 that UNO is the dogs danglies last year, he rushed out and bought half a pallet load. Feel slightly guilty this year then as our new UNO paint applied in May started to fail by mid August. Luke from Percy M See Chandlers uses Micron, but even he reported this failing up at Fareham. So yes a bad year, highlighted in this article:

So, the consensus seems to be that my good results with Uno this year are a fluke

DOH!!

For sale: two tins of Antifoul ... name the make you want ... that's what it will say on the tins ... possibly in crayon as I'm still not allowed near anything sharp:)

Actually, you probably had good results because you didn't let the boat stop still for long enough for the weed to attach! For Gods sake man - let the antifoul do what it is intended to do and leave the boat on the mooring!! ;)

Before we did the smart move of using Coppercoat we had great results with Blakes in Chichester, just suits the water there. Is the big wing keel a Starlight anyone know?

Here is another photo of that terrible poor performing Coppercoat rubbish:

Well Actually, Its too dangerous to stay on the moorings..... so we have to keep sailing

yup - I thought so - recent reports on here indicate that its the most dangerous area in the south .... I trust your insurance premiums are bumped up accordingly ... ;)
